Overnight, Multi-day, Walk

Quiltys is the biggest mountain in the Budawangs at nearly 14sqkm on top and is fascinating to explore. From Nerriga this walk is all off track. Explore passes at north end of the mountain. Direction will be weather dependent. Highly likely we will be wading across creeks up to thigh deep. This is a demanding totally off track walk for fit & experienced walkers only. Camping on top of Quiltys mountain or in overhangs, depending on the weather & wind conditions.
May 17 & 18 - for the weekend, it is likely you will be returned to the Red Grounds Track on Sunday afternoon. Then you will need to walk back to your car on this track unescorted, as I will be staying in the bush.
May 19 & 20  - 2 day extension - after dropping the weekend walkers off on the Red Grounds Track to walk back to their cars on Sunday night, we’ll be doing more exploring of Quiltys Mountain for the next 2 days, perhaps some bush bashing & tape use is likely.

A walk with a duration ranging from part-day to multi-day. Multi-day walks will require some form of accommodation or camping. Contact walk leader (owner) for full details.

At our club we use a grading system common to many bushwalking clubs in NSW to indicate the expected level of difficulty of a walk. See: https://www.southcoastbushwalkers.org.au/what-we-do/walk-grading

Grading information can assist you to decide if the walk is suitable for your level of fitness and experience. However, grading is subjective and must only be taken as a guide, so always ask the walk leader for advice if you are unsure about whether the walk is suitable for you.

The walk leader has full discretion in determining if members or introductory members are accepted for any walk.

The Club’s ethos seeks to undertake more challenging and remote walking with a preference for Grade 4-6 walks but we also include some "Recreational Walks" (RW) which cover Grades 1-3.
