Old Otford train tunnel via Bulgo Beach Walk. Walk is Tuesday 22nd September 2026.

Walk will start from Otford train station. Hike up a steep hill to Lady Wakehurst Drive, We will descend 157 meters on a steep and sometimes slippery track to Bulgo beach. We might have time for a swim depending on the tide. We will go back up the same track to Lady Wakehurst Drive and have an easy off track explore of an old water well, then onto Bald Hill lookout. After a quick talk about some of the old history of the area walk down a lot of man made steps to the southern end of the old Otford Tunnel.
The tunnel is completely dark and about 1.8 km long. You will need a good torch and good foot wear. After reaching the Northern end of the tunnel we will finish back at Otford Station.
A walk with a duration ranging from part-day to multi-day. Multi-day walks will require some form of accommodation or camping. Contact walk leader (owner) for full details.

Grading information can assist you to decide if the walk is suitable for your level of fitness and experience. However, grading is subjective and must only be taken as a guide, so always ask the walk leader for advice if you are unsure about whether the walk is suitable for you.
The walk leader has full discretion in determining if members or introductory members are accepted for any walk.

The Club’s ethos seeks to undertake more challenging and remote walking with a preference for Grade 4-6 walks but we also include some "Recreational Walks" (RW) which cover Grades 1-3.
